Each Farmhouse Butter Dish begins as a round bowl thrown on the pottery wheel and is then altered by hand into its rectangular shape. Clay naturally wants to stay round, so every dish develops its own charming little bumps, dips, curves and wobbles as it dries and fires.
That perfectly imperfect character is intentional. Think old farmhouse floors, well loved wooden tables and handmade pieces that were never meant to be perfectly square. No molds are used, so no two will ever be exactly alike.
Each dish fits a full one pound Canadian brick of butter with room to spare and accommodates a variety of American butter sizes as well.
Made from Canadian clay in my one woman Canadian studio, these are functional pieces of art designed to be beautiful enough to leave on your counter and practical enough to use every day.
Care: Dishwasher and microwave safe. Handwashing is recommended to help preserve the glaze.
